Misery’s Kathy Bates Shares Tribute to Rob & Michele Singer Reiner: ‘Absolutely Devastated’
Kathy Bates, who won an Oscar for starring in 1990’s Misery, has shared a tribute to Rob and Michele Singer Reiner.
Rob Reiner — known for directing a large handful of beloved movies like 1984’s This Is Spinal Tap, 1986’s Stand By Me, 1987’s The Princess Bride, 1989’s When Harry Met Sally…, 1990’s Misery, and 1992’s A Few Good Men, among many others — tragically was found dead with his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, in their Brentwood home on Sunday afternoon. The case has been labeled an “apparent homicide,” per The New York Times.
Per Variety, “Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of Rob and Michele Reiner, is in custody after the apparent homicide of the director and his wife on Sunday afternoon. Nick Reiner was arrested Sunday night at 9:15 p.m. and booked on a felony charge on Monday at 5:04 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department online records. The LAPD could not confirm to Variety whether Nick Reiner is in custody related to the homicide investigation into the deaths of Rob and Michele, but listed Nick’s booking description as ‘gang activity.’ His bail has been set at $4 million.”
What did Kathy Bates say about Rob and Michele Singer Reiner?
Speaking with Deadline last Sunday night, Bates said that she’s “horrified hearing this terrible news” regarding Rob and Michele Singer Reiner and that she was “absolutely devastated.”
Bates continued, “I loved Rob. He was brilliant and kind, a man who made films of every genre to challenge himself as an artist. He also fought courageously for his political beliefs. He changed the course of my life. Michelle was a gifted photographer. She shot my beautiful photos for the Misery campaign. My heart breaks for them both. My thoughts are with their family.”
ComingSoon sends condolences to Reiner’s friends and family at this time.
