Brad Pitt Won’t Join The Batman 2 Cast, Here’s Why
Brad Pitt’s rumored role in The Batman 2 has gotten a disappointing update, with more information about what Pitt’s role would have been coming to light.
Why is Brad Pitt not joining The Batman 2 cast?
According to a new report from THR’s Heat Vision newsletter, Pitt’s role in the movie got a disappointing update. The newsletter notes that Pitt will not be in the movie despite previous rumors suggesting he was being eyed. With The Batman: Part II beginning to eye filming, THR notes that Pitt is not involved in the production.
In another report from Jeff Sneider of The InSneider, more information on Pitt’s involvement was mentioned. According to Sneider, director Matt Reeves was eyeing Pitt to play the role of Christopher Dent, the father of iconic Batman character Harvey Dent. Sneider notes that Christopher Dent will be one of three new characters included in the movie, including Harvey and Harvey’s mother.
As for why Pitt won’t be in the movie, Sneider said it ended up being a simple case of conflicting schedules. Pitt is currently set to be filming Edward Berger’s The Riders when The Batman: Part II will be filming, and won’t be able to be on both productions at once. As of now, it’s unclear who Reeves will look to play Christopher Dent now.
Co-written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, The Batman 2 is expected to see Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell reprise their respective roles as Jim Gordon, Alfred Pennyworth, and the Penguin. Zoe Kravitz, meanwhile, is not expected to return as Catwoman/Selina Kyle. Production on the film begins this coming spring.
The Batman 2 will be released in U.S. theaters on October 1, 2027.
