Apple TV Show Gets Season 2 Renewal Days After Season Finale
Academy Award winner Emma Thompson‘s latest mystery thriller series, Down Cemetery Road, has officially been renewed for a second season at Apple TV. This comes just two days after the first installment concluded its 8-episode run, which received a Certified Fresh rating of 79% on Rotten Tomatoes.
What do we know about Apple TV’s Down Cemetery Road Season 2?
Down Cemetery Road Season 2 will once be led by Thompson as private investigator Zoë Boehm, and Golden Globe winner Ruth Wilson as Sarah Trafford. Season 2 will center around a new twisted mystery involving a woman falling off a train. At the moment, the next installment has no target release date yet.
“Season 2 reunites Zoë Boehm and Sarah Trafford chasing down another twisted mystery. After a woman falls in front of a train, Zoë is called in to investigate, but this seemingly simple case soon upends her life as she and Sarah find themselves navigating the glamorous but ruthless world of black market antiquities,” reads the logline.
Down Cemetery Road is written and executive-produced by Morwenna Banks, with Natalie Bailey serving as the show’s lead director. It is based on Slow Horses author Mick Herron’s novel of the same name. Season 1 also featured Adeel Akhtar, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Tom Goodman-Hill, Darren Boyd, Tom Riley, Adam Godley, Sinead Matthews, Ken Nwosu, Fehinti Balogun, and Aiysha Hart. Executive producers are Herron and Thompson, along with 60Forty Films’ Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, and Tom Nash.
“The thought of working with the team again, with wonderful Morwenna Banks in the writer’s seat and the indomitable Ruth Wilson, who is the best and most brilliant co-star any aging Dame could desire, is frankly far more than I feel I deserve,” Thompson said in a statement about the Season 2 renewal. “Zoë Boehm is a punkishly delicious avatar, and I can’t wait to pull on her knock-off Doc Martens again.”
