New Agatha Christie Movie Based on Beloved Mystery Book Announced

Karate Kid: Legends director Jonathan Entwistle has officially signed on to helm Studiocanal’s upcoming film adaptation of Agatha Christie‘s Endless Night novel. The psychological thriller is being described as a modern reimagining of 1967’s classic crime novel.

What do we know about the new Agatha Christie movie?

“The film follows an ambitious twentysomething hustler who ends up entangled in a web of blame and deception after he becomes romantically involved with a volatile American heiress and her assistant,” reads the synopsis.

Entwistle will be directing the Endless Night movie from a screenplay written by Emily Siegel. It will be produced by Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman for The Picture Company, with Studiocanal’s Ron Halpern and Shana Eddy-Grouf serving as executive producers. Halpern and Eddy-Grouf are also set to oversee the project on behalf of the studio.

This won’t be the first time that Christie’s Endless Night novel will be adapted for the big screen, as Sidney Gilliat previously directed the 1972 version. Last May, it was also reported that the novel will be receiving a limited series adaptation at the BBC, with A Very British Scandal’s Sarah Phelps attached to write the three-part drama.

Entwistle is best known for his work on popular Netflix shows like The End of the F***ing World and I Am Not Okay With This. He most recently directed Ben Wang, Ralph Macchio, and Jackie Chan in Sony Pictures’ newest Karate Kid movie, which earned a worldwide gross of $117 million at the box office.
