Black Panther 3 Release Date Window Revealed for MCU Movie

Black Panther 3 has received an exciting release date update.

Marvel Studios has yet to officially announce a release date for Black Panther 3, which is in development. The film, which serves as a sequel to 2018’s Black Panther and 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, is once again being directed by Ryan Coogler.

What is the release date update for Black Panther 3?

According to The New York Times, Black Panther 3 is “expected to be released in 2028.”

Coogler said, “I’m so fired up about that movie, bro.”

Marvel currently has four movies dated for 2028 — in February, May, November, and December — though they haven’t announced what any of these projects would be. Other MCU feature film projects that are currently in development include Jake Schreier’s X-Men movie, a sequel to Fantastic Four: The First Steps, and the long-delayed Blade movie, but it remains to be seen if all four of these movies wind up arriving in 2028.

Not much is known about the third Black Panther movie at this time. It seems safe to assume that Letitia Wright will reprise her role as Shuri in the movie, as she’ll soon be seen in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. However, it is unclear if characters like Tenoch Huerta Mejía’s Namor or Winston Duke’s M’Baku will also be returning.

It does appear that Black Panther 3 will star Denzel Washington in a mystery role. Washington let the news slip that he was being considered for a part when he was doing press for 2024’s Gladiator II, and Coogler has since confirmed that it is indeed true.

Coogler also said to Deadline’s Mike Fleming Jr. a little less than a month ago that Black Panther 3 will be his next movie after Sinners. “If it was anybody but you, I would say, ‘I can neither confirm or deny,’” he teased. “But we’re working on it hard…Yeah, it’s the next movie.”
