Marvel Star & More Defend Paul Dano From Quentin Tarantino’s Comments
A prominent Marvel star and more Hollywood creatives have come out to defend Paul Dano from the negative comments made by Quentin Tarantino about him.
Who came to the defense of Paul Dano against Quentin Tarantino’s comments?
During a recent appearance on The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast, Tarantino slammed Dano for his performance in There Will Be Blood, calling him the “weakest f—ing actor in SAG.”
“Obviously, it’s supposed to be a two-hander. But it’s also drastically obvious that it’s not a two-hander,” Tarantino said. “[Dano] is weak sauce, man. He is the weak sister. [Daniel] is eating him [alive]. Austin Butler would have been wonderful in that role. He’s just such a weak, weak, uninteresting guy. Daniel Day-Lewis shows that he doesn’t need a strong foil. The movie needs it. He doesn’t need anything. It’s supposed to be a two-hander, and it’s not!”
Tarantino added that Dano is the “weakest f—ing actor in SAG” and the “limpest dick in the world.” The Pulp Fiction filmmaker did not care for Dano’s “non-entity performance.”
Many actors, writers, and directors have spoken out against Tarantino and praised Dano’s work as an actor. The Batman co-writer Mattson Tomlin witnessed Dano’s work firsthand as the Riddler. Tomlin urged Dano’s supporters to check out his directorial debut, Wildlife.
“I am really pleased to see so many people cheer on Paul Dano this week,” Tomlin wrote on X. “Not only is he a terrific actor, but he’s an astonishing director who exudes control and tremendous empathy.”
Marvel star Simu Liu wrote on X, “Idk man I think Paul Dano is an incredible actor.”
TMZ reached out to Dillon Freasier, who played young H.W. Plainview in There Will Be Blood. Freasier supported his co-star and praised Paul Thomas Anderson’s casting decisions.
“The film is perfect,” Freasier said. “It’s a work of art. And it’s that way because everyone was perfectly cast.”
