James Gunn Can’t Reveal Spotify Wrapped Top Songs Due to Man of Tomorrow

James Gunn addressed his Spotify Wrapped results by revealing that they contain spoilers for Man of Tomorrow. The director explained that he couldn’t share his top songs because they are all featured in the upcoming Superman film.

What did James Gunn say about Spotify Wrapped?

James Gunn commented on his Spotify Wrapped, saying, “I can’t post my top songs because they are ALL in Man of Tomorrow, but I can post some of the other stuff.” He shared that his top four musical acts were Foxy Shazam (for the second year in a row), Sports Team, Jeff Rosenstock, and LaRussel. Gunn also noted that his Spotify-assigned “listening age” was 26 and that he belongs to “Club Serotonin” with the role of “Collector.”

Gunn clarified that he excluded music from Man of Tomorrow and Peacemaker in the playlist he shared. He referred to this as his “Spotify Wrapped Abridged.” When a user requested the inclusion of “Kryptonite” by 3 Doors Down in Man of Tomorrow, Gunn replied, “Not gonna happen.”

Gunn’s statement seems to align with earlier indications that Man of Tomorrow will feature more prominent music choices. This contrasts with Superman, which relied more heavily on its score. In Superman, the filmmakers included only a few songs, such as “5 Years Time” by Noah and the Whale during a Mr. Terrific scene. John Murphy and David Fleming composed most of the film’s score.

The filmmaker frequently curates music-heavy soundtracks, especially in Guardians of the Galaxy and Peacemaker. In Peacemaker Season 2, he added Steel Panther’s “F—ing My Heart in the Ass” to the soundtrack.

Gunn confirmed that Man of Tomorrow features all of his top Spotify songs. This confirmation indicates that the new film will include a significant amount of music. Warner Bros. will release Man of Tomorrow on July 9, 2027. The studio plans to begin production in summer 2026.
