Rush Hour 4: Massive Budget Revealed for Jackie Chan & Chris Tucker Movie
With Rush Hour 4 in development, the Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker movie will reportedly carry a massive budget.
What is the budget for Rush Hour 4?
In a recent column for Puck, Kim Masters shared several new details about Rush Hour 4, including the massive cost behind the Paramount movie. The film will reportedly cost over $100 million, with a portion of the production budget coming from Saudi Arabia.
Masters reached out to Brett Ratner, the disgraced director who will helm Rush Hour 4, to confirm the budget. Masters also asked if Melania Trump’s production company, Muse Films, will have a role in Rush Hour 4 and how producer Tarak Ben Ammar facilitated the Saudi Arabia financing. Ratner is the filmmaker behind the upcoming documentary about the First Lady.
“Muse Films is absolutely not involved in Rush Hour 4,” Ratner wrote in a text. “What a ridiculous assumption that Muse Films is producing. Tarak is the producer and financier, and I am not privy to the details of his conversations. The budget is over 100m. Happy Holidays.”
Ratner has reportedly told studio executives that Chan and Tucker are “ready” to make Rush Hour 4.
Last month, news broke that Paramount brokered a deal with Warner Bros. to distribute Rush Hour 4. Warner Bros. will reportedly receive a “double-digit percent distribution fee” for allowing Paramount to make the fourth Rush Hour.
Rush Hour 4 had been in limbo due to sexual assault allegations against Ratner, who helmed the first three movies in the franchise. President Donald Trump reportedly backed Ratner and reached out to Oracle’s Larry Ellison to make Rush Hour 4. Larry’s son, David Ellison, is the new chairman and CEO of Paramount Skydance.
Rush Hour follows the adventures of Hong Kong Police Force Chief Inspector Lee (Chan) and Los Angeles Police Department Detective James Carter (Carter), an unlikely duo who constantly find themselves in the middle of important investigations. The buddy cop franchise has spawned three movies: 1998’s Rush Hour, 2001’s Rush Hour 2, and 2007’s Rush Hour 3. The three movies have combined to gross over $850 million worldwide.
