Anne Hathaway Is a Pop Star in Chaos in A24’s Mother Mary Trailer

A24 has officially released the first Mother Mary trailer, previewing the upcoming drama starring Anne Hathaway. Mother Mary is set to release in spring 2026.

Mother Mary follows the story of a global pop star facing an existential crisis, who abandons her tour in order to reunite with an old friend. The friend, who helped craft the pop star’s persona, links up with the diva, leading to chaos.

Who is in the Mother Mary trailer?

Alongside Hathaway in the lead role of the pop diva, Mother Mary also stars Michaela Coel, Hunter Schafer, Jessica Brown Findlay, Sian Clifford, and FKA Twigs. The movie is directed by David Lowery (The Green Knight), from a script written by Lowery as well. Lowery, Toby Halbrooks, James M. Johnston, Jeanie Igoe, Jonas Katzenstein, Maximilian Leo, and Jonathan Saubach all produced the film.

Filming for Mother Mary wrapped last year, and Hathaway praised the experience, calling it “extraordinary” and “transformative.”

Lowery is best known for his 2017 movie A Ghost Story, as well as 2021’s The Green Knight. Prior to Mother Mary, Lowery’s last project was 2023’s Peter Pan & Wendy, the live-action adaptation of the iconic 1953 Disney movie Peter Pan.

After Mother Mary, Hathaway has four projects lined up, set to release in 2026. These include The Devil Wears Prada 2, Verity, The Odyssey, and Flowervale Street. The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set for a May 1, 2026, release, followed by The Odyssey on July 17, 2026, then Flowervale Street on August 14, 2026, and finally Verity, which has an October 2, 2026, release date.
