Prime Video has confirmed the streaming debut of one of Steven Spielberg’s most influential sci-fi films. The highly acclaimed release marks the movie’s official arrival on the platform. It follows a successful theatrical run and enduring fan popularity.

Ready Player One begins streaming on Prime Video in December

Ready Player One begins streaming on Prime Video on December 30, 2025. The film joins a slate of new additions that also includes titles such as Blade, A Cinderella Story, and The Great Gatsby (2013), all arriving on the same date.

Steven Spielberg directed Ready Player One, which adapts Ernest Cline’s 2011 novel and premiered in the United States on March 29, 2018. The film features Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, and Mark Rylance. Set in a dystopian 2045, the story centers on Wade Watts, a teenage orphan. He enters a high-stakes virtual contest inside the OASIS simulation in search of a hidden Easter egg.

Warner Bros. Pictures, Village Roadshow Pictures, and Amblin Entertainment produced the movie with a budget between $155–175 million. It earned over $583 million worldwide and received nominations for Best Visual Effects at the Academy Awards, BAFTAs, and Critics’ Choice Awards. The film won Best Science Fiction Film at the 45th Saturn Awards.

On November 23, 2025, the full list of Prime Video’s December additions was released. The list includes Ready Player One as one of the final major entries, set to stream on December 30. Other featured releases include Fallout Season 2 on December 17 and A Minecraft Movie on December 22.

The full list for December 30 also features Blade (1998), Blade II, Free Willy, In the Heart of the Sea, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Wrath of the Titans, and more. Ready Player One will stream alongside these titles as part of Prime Video’s end-of-month update.
