Wicked: For Good Box Office Continues Success Over Thanksgiving Weekend

Wicked: For Good came out in theaters on November 21, 2025, and had a better opening weekend than Wicked: Part One last year. Now, as we move into the holiday season, the film continues to be a success at the box office after the Thanksgiving weekend. Wicked 2’s consistent and strong momentum makes it one of the season’s biggest blockbusters.

How Wicked: For Good performed at the second weekend box office

Wicked: For Good, the sequel to 2024’s musical fantasy film Wicked, performed well in its second weekend at the box office. The film brought in a staggering $147 million in its domestic opening weekend, surpassing Wicked, which brought in $112 million. Further, moving on to its 3-day second weekend, this holiday season blockbuster grossed $62 million, showing a 57.3% decrease compared to its opening.

However, the drop is because the second weekend was stretched due to Thanksgiving. The 4-day Wicked: For Good Thanksgiving box office collection stands at $75 million, while the 5-day collection from Nov. 26 to Nov. 30 amounts to a whopping $93 million.

Comparing Wicked and Wicked: For Good, both films seem to have performed almost similarly, with the sequel actually outdoing the original. Wicked made $263 million domestically in its first two weeks, and its sequel made $270 million in the same time frame.

The overseas numbers for the sequel haven’t been as good as the film stands at $393 million globally currently, having added just $122 million from international markets.

The cast of Wicked reunited for the sequel, including Ariana Grande as Glinda, Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, and Jonathan Bailey as Prince Fiyero, in leading roles. The cast also includes Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard, Michelle Yeoh as Madam Morrible, and Colman Domingo as the Cowardly Lion. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the film follows Elphaba, now the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda, who resides at the palace in Emerald City, five years after the events of the first movie. As audiences continue to flock to theaters, the sequel establishes Wicked’s place as one of the leading musical film franchises today.
