Kate Mara & Zazie Beetz’s The Dutchman Movie Sets Release Date

Rogue Pictures and Inaugural Entertainment have announced the release date for The Dutchman, the upcoming film adaptation of the acclaimed stage play of the same name. The psychological thriller movie will be led by Kate Mara (Call Jane) as Lula, Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2) as Kaya, and André Holland (Moonlight) as Clay.

“In the film, Clay, a successful but troubled black businessman, attends therapy sessions with his wife, Kaya, in an attempt to salvage their marriage. But their mysterious therapist is not all that he seems, and begins to unexpectedly appear to Clay outside of their sessions. On a New York subway train, Clay encounters Lula, a seductive but sinister white stranger who slowly begins to unravel his life. Clay must discover the truth behind this encounter to get back to his wife, heal his fractured soul, and survive the night.”

When is The Dutchman release date?

According to THR, The Dutchman is now scheduled to arrive in theaters nationwide on January 6, 2026. Before this, the movie had its world premiere at the 2025 South by Southwest Film & TV Festival. It currently holds a Tomatometer rating of 67% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 15 reviews.

The Dutchman is directed and produced by Andre Gaines (The One and Only Dick Gregory) from a screenplay he co-wrote with Qasim Basir. The movie brings a contemporary edge to the original, exploring themes of race and identity in America. The cast also includes Stephen McKinley Henderson, Aldis Hodge, Lauren E. Banks, Lenny Platt, Tracy Wilder, Shonica Gooden, and more. It is executive-produced by Joshua Blum and Han West, with Jonathan T. Baker producing.
