WWE Star To Write New Anime Movie for Studio That Made Dragon Ball Z
Having conquered the WWE world with her impeccable fighting skills, AJ Lee is now making the transition into the anime world with a new movie. In a recent interview, the professional wrestler and author revealed that she is currently composing the script for a new film for Toei Animation, the Japanese studio responsible for producing the beloved Dragon Ball Z series.
AJ Lee confirms she is writing a new film for Toei Animation
During her November 25 appearance on What’s Your Story? With Steph McMahon, April Jeanette Mendez, known to WWE fans as AJ Lee, announced that she and her creative partner Aimee Garcia are in the process of penning a feature-length anime movie.
“I love anime so much,” the three-time Divas Champion said before adding, “One of my favorite companies growing up was Toei. They did Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z, these things that raised me. [Writing partner Garcia and I] are writing a movie for Toei Animation. That’s all I can say.”
While AJ Lee shied away from giving more details on the movie script she is ideating with Garcia, the veteran wrestler made sure to express her passion for anime, particularly Dragon Ball Z. Talking about her experience working with Toei Animation, Lee noted that it was a “dream come true to be in their offices and see all Dragon Ball Z figures everywhere.”
After proving herself in the ring, Lee eventually decided to pursue her love for writing in 2017. She made her debut as an author through a memoir titled Crazy Is My Superpower: How I Triumphed by Breaking Bones, Breaking Hearts, and Breaking the Rules, which went on to become a New York Times bestseller. Since then, the multifaceted star has co-written multiple projects, including the GLOW vs. The Babyface comics, based on the popular Netflix wrestling series, as well as the 2022 film Blade of the 47 Ronin.
