Tom Cruise’s New Movie Is ‘Craziest Thing’ Acclaimed Actor Has Ever Been In
Golden Globe nominee Michael Stuhlbarg has opened up about his upcoming movie with Top Gun: Maverick star Tom Cruise, teasing what to expect from acclaimed filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu‘s next English-language feature after 2015’s The Revenant. Potentially titled Judy, the movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on October 2, 2026.
What did Michael Stuhlbarg say about Tom Cruise’s new movie?
During a recent interview with the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, Stuhlbarg shared his experience filming the Tom Cruise-led movie, revealing that it was actually the longest shoot he has done. He felt privileged for the opportunity to work with such an “extraordinary” cast and crew. The Call Me By Your Name star also continued to hype up the upcoming black comedy, admitting that it was the “craziest” project he has ever been a part of.
“That’s the craziest thing I’ve ever been a part of in my life. It’s fantastic. … It’s an extraordinary group of people,” Stuhlbarg said. “I can’t wait to see how it is. I arrived in October and left in May the following year. It was the longest shoot I’ve ever done, and it was his passion project, something he’s been working on for years.”
He continued, “To be in that sort of proximity to those kinds of kids was really fun. Talk about willpower. Just the fact that the film was made to begin with, and to watch the power and tenacity that all of those artists had who created that piece. I’m so anxious for people to see it. I can’t say much more than that, but it was a privilege.”
Iñárritu is directing the movie from a screenplay he co-wrote with Sabina Berman, Alexander Dinelaris, and Nicolás Giacobone. The ensemble cast also includes Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde, Riz Ahmed, Emma D’Arcy, and more. The film is also produced by Cruise and Iñárritu. The creative team consists of cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki and editor Conor O’Neill.
