New The Exorcist Sequel Movie Cast Adds a Major MCU Star

The new The Exorcist sequel movie has added a major MCU star to the cast.

The Haunting of Hill House and The Life of Chuck’s Mike Flanagan has been tapped to write and direct the next installment in The Exorcist franchise. This comes after 2023’s The Exorcist: Believer, which was directed by David Gordon Green and was intended to be the first installment in a trilogy; however, those plans have since been scrapped.

Who has joined the cast of the new The Exorcist sequel movie?

Per Deadline, the new The Exorcist sequel movie has added Scarlett Johansson to the cast.

“Scarlett is a brilliant actress whose captivating performances always feel grounded and real, from genre films to summer blockbusters, and I couldn’t be happier to have her join this Exorcist film,” Flanagan said in a statement.

According to the outlet, Blumhouse-Atomic Monster have been “taking meetings with a number of top tier talent” for the next Exorcist movie. The article continues, “Insiders tell Deadline, scheduling had to be worked out with a couple upcoming projects but that this film will likely be her next up on her docket to shoot. The project also gives Johansson her first legit horror film in long and successful career.”

Who Johansson is playing in the new Exorcist movie remains unclear at this time, as plot details are being kept under wraps.

Flanagan is also producing the film for Red Room Pictures, while David Robinson produces for Morgan Creek Entertainment and Jason Blum for Blumhouse-Atomic Monster. Alexandra Magistro serves as an executive producer for Red Room Pictures, with Ryan Turek also executive producing for Blumhouse-Atomic Monster.

The new The Exorcist sequel movie does not yet have a release date. Johansson recently starred in Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World Rebirth and is expected to reprise her role in the sequel, while she also recently directed Eleanor the Great for Sony Pictures Classics.
