Wolverine’s Return in the MCU Gets Hopeful Update From Hugh Jackman

The buzz around Hugh Jackman’s future as Wolverine has intensified following new remarks from the actor. His latest comments have drawn attention to when fans might see the mutant hero appear again, prompting renewed discussion across the MCU community. Interest continues to rise as audiences look for clearer signs of what comes next.

Hugh Jackman on if he’ll return in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Wolverine

Hugh Jackman has not confirmed a definitive return as Wolverine in future Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) projects but has left the door open. When asked on The Graham Norton Show about reprising the role, Jackman replied, “Maybe,” followed by, “I am never saying ‘never’ ever again.”

Jackman clarified that his earlier decision to step away from the character was genuine. He stated, “I did mean it when I said ‘never,’ until the day when I changed my mind. But I really did for quite a few years, I meant it.” He also joked that studios could now use artificial intelligence to insert his likeness: “They’ve got enough… I could be in the dressing room [right now].”

His comments come after his return in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), which followed his apparent farewell in 2017’s Logan, where the character died. Jackman said he had finished the role after Logan, but he changed his mind when he got the chance to team up with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool.

Speaking to Fandango in 2024, Jackman said, “I was on my way, I was just driving, and literally, just like a bolt of lightning, came this knowing deep in my gut that I wanted to do this film with Ryan… I swear to you, when I said I was done, I really thought I was done… But I just knew.”

The idea of pairing Wolverine with Deadpool had been discussed by Jackman and Reynolds for years. A merger between Fox and Disney made the crossover possible within the MCU. Reynolds told Entertainment Weekly, “This pairing has been something I’ve dreamt about for as long as I can remember.”

Fans continue to speculate about Wolverine’s involvement in upcoming MCU films such as Avengers: Doomsday, though Marvel has not made any official announcement.
