Kendrick Lamar and South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone addressed the status of their untitled live‑action comedy as the project faced another delay. Release date of Kendrick Lamar & South Park creators’ movie has been delayed again

Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming live-action comedy with South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone has been delayed again. Paramount Pictures removed the untitled film from its March 20, 2026 release, with no new date announced. The film was originally set for July 4, 2025, before being pushed to March.

“It’s true – we’re moving (again). We’re working hard at finishing the movie,” read a joint statement from Park County and pgLang (via Variety). The statement confirmed that the teams continue developing the film. However, it did not share any additional details about the cause of the delay.

Paramount unveiled the project in 2024 with limited information. Comedian Vernon Chatman wrote the film, and Kendrick Lamar, Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and Dave Free are producing it. The teams have not announced any cast members or an official title yet.

According to early reports, the film “depicts the past and present coming to a head when a young Black man who is interning as a slave re-enactor at a living history museum discovers that his white girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his.” This premise has not been officially confirmed since.

Lamar’s production company pgLang is producing the film alongside Parker and Stone’s Park County for Paramount Pictures. The delay follows Lamar’s upcoming Grand National stadium tour, which begins on April 19, 2025, and concludes on August 19, 2025, in Sweden.

Lamar leads the 2026 Grammy nominations with nine nods, including recognition for his album GNX and single “Luther.” His 2024 single “Not Like Us” previously won two of the Grammy’s top three categories. Parker and Stone are concurrently working on South Park Season 28, which airs biweekly on Comedy Central.
