The Mandalorian Season 4 Gets Interesting Update Ahead of Star Wars Movie

Star Wars’ Jon Favreau is finally addressing those rumors regarding The Mandalorian Season 4.

What did Jon Favreau say about The Mandalorian Season 4?

Since its release in 2019, The Mandalorian has been the most popular Star Wars show on Disney+. Many fans speculated that Din Djarin and Grogu would return for a new adventure after the Season 3 finale in April 2023.

Because The Mandalorian is a television show, the logical place to return would be in Season 4. However, Disney and Lucasfilm pivoted from another Disney+ season to a theatrical movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu.

This begs the question of whether The Mandalorian Season 4 ever existed. In an interview with Empire, Favreau revealed the answer.

“We were planning on doing a fourth season. I had actually written all of that,” Favreau said. “I still have season 4 sitting on my desk here.”

Favreau did not share if he plans to revisit The Mandalorian Season 4 after the movie. For now, the priority will be The Mandalorian and Grogu, the first theatrical Star Wars movie since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.

Pedro Pascal returns as Din Djarin, the bounty hunter known as The Mandalorian. He will team with his adopted son, Grogu, for a new quest.

“The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy,” the official synopsis reads. “As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu (as himself).”

The ensemble includes Sigourney Weaver as Ward, the leader of the New Republic’s Adelphi Rangers; Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt, the son of Jabba the Hutt; and Jonny Coyne as an Imperial Warlord, one of the Galactic Empire’s remaining leaders.

Favreau directs The Mandalorian and Grogu from a screenplay he co-wrote with Dave Filoni. Favreau and Filoni are producers alongside Kathleen Kennedy and Ian Bryce.

The Mandalorian and Grogu is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 22, 2026.
