Wicked: For Good Box Office To Have a Huge Global Opening

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s upcoming musical fantasy sequel, Wicked: For Good, is going to surpass its predecessor, according to the recent box office predictions. Wicked: For Good opened in theaters on Friday, November 21, 2025, one year after the first film. Alongside Grande and Erivo, the movie also stars Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater, and Michelle Yeoh, among many others.

Wicked: For Good box office predicted to have a massive opening

The early box office predictions of Wicked: For Good suggest that the sequel will surpass the original 2024 movie’s impressive cume.

According to the report by Deadline, the sequel is expected to gross between $125 million and $150 million at the domestic box office during its opening weekend. This means Wicked: For Good could reach an opening worldwide collection of over $200 million, with approximately $70 million coming in from the international market.

In comparison, Wicked (2024) opened with $112.5 million across 3,888 theaters. It became a blockbuster hit, grossing $474 million domestically and $283 million at the international box office. This brought Wicked’s worldwide gross to $758 million. In terms of its Rotten Tomatoes score, Wicked: For Good currently falls behind the first movie. Wicked has a score of 88 percent on the Tomatometer based on 404 critic reviews. It also has a score of 95 percent on the Popcornmeter. Wicked: For Good, on the other hand, currently has a score of 70 percent on Rotten Tomatoes from 196 critic reviews. This score might change as more reviews come in. However, the audience score for the sequel is currently higher than the original at 97 percent on Popcornmeter.

Wicked: For Good will focus on Elphaba and Glinda’s friendship being tested as they move forward with their new identities as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch of the North, respectively.
