Coyote vs. Acme: New Image, Details Released for Rescued Looney Tunes Movie
The long-awaited Coyote vs. Acme movie has received an exciting update.
Coyote vs. Acme is a new Looney Tunes movie that is scheduled to be released in August 2026. The film was nearly canceled, as Warner Bros. Discovery initially shelved the finished project in 2023 for a tax write-off. Ketchup Entertainment, however, acquired the rights to the film in March 2025 and rescued the project.
What is the new Coyote vs. Acme update?
Speaking with Empire Magazine, director Dave Green shared some new details about what Looney Tunes fans can expect from Coyote vs. Acme.
“When we grew up watching [Wile E. Coyote], there’s something kind of villainous about him,” Green said. “We want to pop that myth and get into his soul and show you what really makes him tick.” He went on to say that this premise results in a “very laugh-out-loud funny.”
“[Wile E.] has been absolutely maligned for 80 years,” he continued. “He’s been blown up. He’s been smashed by anvils and just completely mistreated by the Acme Corporation. And the more you read this piece, the more you laugh, and you also realise that Wile E. has a really great case here.”
A new Coyote vs. Acme image featuring Wile E. Coyote has also been released and can be viewed below, via DiscussingFilm on Twitter:
Green further said, “Making a movie is like pushing a boulder up a hill. It’s what Wile E. does every day. The idea that I get to be here talking to you today, it feels absolutely surreal at this point.”
The official synopsis for the movie reads, “The film centers on Wile E. Coyote as he takes legal action against the Acme Corporation for the countless faulty products that have hindered his relentless pursuit of the Road Runner.”
Coyote vs. Acme will be released in United States theaters on August 28, 2026.
