Daisy Ridley Fights Zombies in Exciting We Bury The Dead Trailer

Vertical has released the official trailer for We Bury The Dead, an upcoming zombie thriller headlined by Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley.

The official synopsis reads, “After a catastrophic American military experiment, resulting in mass casualties across Tasmania. Ava (Ridley) joins a body retrieval unit to help identify the dead and search for her husband in the southern part of the island,” reads the official synopsis. “As Ava makes her way south, across the ravaged landscape, she soon learns that some of the victims of the disaster are coming back to life.”

What happens in the We Bury The Dead trailer?

The trailer opens with Ridley’s Ava Newman on the run from a killer zombie. The deployment of an experimental weapon devastated the population, leaving many in monster-like states. Ava joins volunteers to enter a quarantine zone in search of her missing husband. The survivors were told the infected are harmless. Ava quickly finds out that the undead are violent and aggressive and getting stronger by the hour.

Besides Ridley, We Bury The Dead stars Brenton Thwaites, Mark Coles Smith, Kym Jackson, and Matt Whelan.

Zak Hilditch writes and directs We Bury The Dead. Hilditch is best known for directing two Netflix movies: 2017’s 1922 and 2019’s Rattlesnake. Producers include Kelvin Munro, Grant Sputore, Ross M. Dinerstein, Joshua Harris, and Mark Fasano.

We Bury The Dead had its global premiere at the 2025 South by Southwest Film & TV Festival. The survival thriller received positive reviews and holds a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.

We Bury The Dead hits theaters on January 2, 2026.
