Who is involved in Toy Story 5?

Toy Story 5 director Andrew Stanton revealed new details about the plot, which revolves around the idea of technology replacing toys.

“Honestly, it’s not even really about a battle so much as the realization of an existential problem: that nobody’s really playing with toys anymore,” Stanton told Empire. “Technology has changed everybody’s lives, but we’re asking what that means for us — and to our kids. We can’t just get away with making tech the villain.”

Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are back voicing Woody and Buzz Lightyear. The rest of the voice cast includes Joan Cusack as Jessie, Blake Clark as Slinky Dog, John Ratzenberger as Hamm, Ernie Hudson as Combat Carl, Tony Hale as Forky, and Melissa Villaseñor as Karen Beverly.

New characters include Greta Lee as Lilypad, a frog-shaped tablet, and Conan O’Brien as Smarty Pants. Anna Faris is also expected to appear in an undisclosed role.

“The toys are back in Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5, and this time it’s Toy meets Tech,” Pixar’s synopsis reads. “Buzz, Woody, Jessie, and the rest of the gang’s jobs are challenged when they’re introduced to what kids are obsessed with today….electronics!”

Stanton is the writer and director of Toy Story 5. Stanton co-wrote multiple Toy Story movies and helmed several Pixar movies, including Finding Nemo, WALL-E, and Finding Dory. Toy Story 5 is the first installment without John Lasseter, one of the franchise’s creators, who left Pixar in 2018.

Toy Story 5 opens in theaters on June 19, 2026.
