Will Arnett Faces Midlife Crisis in Bradley Cooper’s Is This Thing On? Trailer

Searchlight Pictures has released a new Is This Thing On? trailer, previewing Bradley Cooper‘s upcoming comedy movie starring Will Arnett taking on comedy during a midlife crisis. The film is set to premiere on December 19, 2025.

“After many years together, Alex and Tess have reached an amicable end to their marriage, thus beginning the awkward stage of figuring out how to live separately while raising two boys and maintaining their friendships,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “Alex discovers a new hobby and, in the process, learns more about himself and his relationship.”

What happens in the Is This Thing On? trailer?

The new trailer expands more upon the original, which sees Will Arnett’s Alex Novak and Laura Dern’s Tess growing apart as they get a divorce. The trailer also shows Alex as he dives deeper into the world of stand-up comedy

Alongside Arnett and Dern, Is This Thing On? also stars Andra Day, Bradley Cooper, Amy Sedaris, Sean Hayes, Christine Ebersole, Ciarán Hinds, and Scott Icenogle. The film comes from a screenplay co-written by Bradley Cooper, Arnett, and Mark Chappell. Cooper, Weston Middleton, Arnett, and Kris Thykier serve as producers on the project.

Is this Thing On? is loosely based on the life of British comedian John Bishop, who also serves as one of the three men credited with a story credit on the film. It had its world premiere as the closing film at the 2025 New York Film Festival in October, and will release on December 19, 2025.
