Sense and Sensibility Release Date Set for Daisy Edgar-Jones Movie

Focus Features and Universal Pictures have announced the new Sense and Sensibility release date, revealing when the latest version of the iconic story starring Daisy Edgar-Jones will come out.

When is the new Sense and Sensibility release date?

Sense and Sensibility will release in theaters in the United States on September 11, 2026, and will then release in the United Kingdom on September 25, 2026. The film, which is based on the iconic novel of the same name from Jane Austen, will be the latest in a long line of adaptations based around the novel.

Edgar-Jones will lead the film as Elinor Dashwood, with the rest of the cast set to include Esmé Creed-Miles, George MacKay, Caitríona Balfe, Fiona Shaw, Frank Dillane, Herbert Nordrum, and Bodhi Rae Breathnatch. The movie will be directed by Georgia Oakley (Blue Jean), from a script written by Diana Reid.

Described as a fresh take on the Jane Austen classic, the upcoming adaptation will be directed by Georgia Oakley (Blue Jean) from a screenplay written by bestselling author Diana Reid. The story follows the lives of the Dashwood sisters and their mother, who are forced to move out of their family estate following the death of their father. The project is produced by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title Films, alongside India Flint of November Pictures and Jo Wallett.

Besides the Sense and Sensibility movie, their are more Jane Austen adaptations on the way, including Netflix’s upcoming series and modern remake of Austen’s popular Pride and Prejudice novel. Prior to the upcoming projects, Austen’s novel was famously adapted in 1995 with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen leading the film’s cast as Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy, respectively.
