Daisy Ridley Teams With Taken Director for New Action Movie
After recently working with Casino Royale director Martin Campbell in this year’s Cleaner movie, Star Wars vet Daisy Ridley is now set to collaborate with another action film director, Pierre Morel, who’s best known for helming Taken and Peppermint. Ridley has officially signed on for the leading role in Morel’s next action thriller, titled The Good Samaritan, which will begin production in the spring of 2026 in Brisbane, Australia.
What do we know about Daisy Ridley’s The Good Samaritan movie?
“When successful entrepreneur Dr. Rosalind Carver (Ridley) and her husband Matt rescue a wounded man drifting off the coast of Indonesia, they believe they’re saving a life – not stepping into a deadly conspiracy. Within hours, their yacht vanishes, Matt is abducted, and paradise turns into a trap,” reads the official synopsis. “Hunted by pirates and imprisoned by corrupt officials, Rosalind’s only hope lies in Sean Fuller, a private military contractor whose motives are as mysterious as his past. Together, they must navigate a maze of deceit and violence in a land where no one can be trusted.”
Morel will be directing The Good Samaritan from a screenplay written by Rambo: First Blood’s Matthew Ian Cirulnick. The movie is produced by Mark Canton and Dorothy Canton of Canton Entertainment, Oakhurst Pictures, Renee Tab of Sentient Entertainment, and David Hopwood. Executive producers include Morel, Matthew Ian Cirulnick, and Ryan Winterstern, along with Delphine Perrier and Arianne Fraser from Highland Film Group. Canton Entertainment’s Karley Ferlic is also serving as a co-producer.
“What I love about Matt’s writing is the raw realism of the characters and their intense predicament, elevated by the Hitchcockian, noirish collision of two damaged souls from opposite worlds,” Morel said in a statement, “Daisy exudes such palpable intelligence, and poise under pressure; watching her navigate a foreign world where every element, nature, people and even fate seems stacked against her will be thrilling. I’m excited about the cast coming together. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
Before The Good Samaritan, Ridley will first star opposite Alden Ehrenreich in the upcoming romantic comedy The Last Resort, which takes place in the Philippines. She also recently signed on to star in the sports drama movie Killa Bee, which will center around the life of MMA fighter Bryony Tyrell. She is also expected to reprise her iconic Star Wars role in an untitled Rey Skywalker movie, which will take place several years after the events of 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.
