Brad Pitt’s F1 Sequel Movie Gets Huge Update From Director
Director Joseph Kosinski recently gave a big update on a sequel to his sports drama movie F1. Led by the star-studded cast of Brad Pitt, Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, and Javier Bardem, F1 was a critical and commercial success, and speculations about a potential sequel have been circulating for a while.
Joseph Kosinski reveals he had conversations about F1 sequel
Joseph Kosinski spoke about the prospect of an F1 sequel during his appearance at this year’s Governors Awards. When asked about the project by Variety, the filmmaker stated that producers were at a stage where they were considering what “the next chapter for Sonny Hayes would be, and for APXGP.” He added, “But based on the reactions from around the world to this movie, it’s something that people want to see. I’ll be happy to go back and do it because we had so much fun making this one.”
As the interviewer noted, Apple CEO Tim Cook disclosed to the same outlet earlier this year that they were discussing a potential F1 sequel. “It’s definitely something that’s being talked about,” Cook said. “It’s been such a huge summer blockbuster for us. We’re so proud of it. The talent involved are such next level, and Brad did such a wonderful job acting in it. We’re super proud of it, and can’t wait to bring it to the service.”
F1 had its world premiere at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on June 16, 2025. The movie debuted in US theaters on June 27, 2025. It became a major box-office success for Apple Studios and garnered an 82% approval rating on the review-aggregating site Rotten Tomatoes. Now, it seems that Apple is interested in making another movie centered around the same story and characters.
While Kosinski didn’t explicitly confirm it, his comments indicate that Pitt will potentially reprise the role in a sequel. It remains unclear whether any other actor from the first movie will appear in a follow-up film.
F1 begins streaming on Apple TV on December 12, 2025.
