New Stephen King Horror Movie Announced, First Details Emerge
Intrinsic Value Films is currently developing a film adaptation of Mister Yummy, based on Stephen King‘s short horror story from his 2015 collection The Bazaar of Bad Dreams. This comes after the back-to-back critical success of Osgood Perkins’ The Monkey and Francis Lawrence’s The Long Walk movies, which were both based on King’s acclaimed works.
What do we know about the new Stephen King horror movie?
According to Deadline, the Mister Yummy movie will be written by Troy Blake, with Thomas Mahoney serving as a producer. It is being described as a “haunting tale” about Ollie Franklin, a gay man confronting mortality, where death waits around every corner and regret becomes the ghost that never leaves. At the moment, the project has no director, cast, or distributor attached to it yet.
This project is one of the movies that Intrinsic Value Films will be launching at the American Film Market. The production company is also working on a Gene Wilder biopic, titled Gene, with writer Jeremy Roth. This comes after the studio successfully acquired the exclusive life rights of the beloved actor.
Besides Mister Yummy, King’s crime novel, Billy Summers, is also expected to receive a film adaptation from Warner Bros. Pictures. The project was first announced in 2023. Meanwhile, the acclaimed author’s iconic horror novel Carrie is also getting a TV adaptation at Prime Video from The Haunting of Hill House creator Mike Flanagan. The supernatural series will be led by Summer H. Howell, Siena Agudong, Matthew Lillard, and Samantha Sloyan.
