Former Star Wars Director Loves The Hunt for Ben Solo Idea

With Adam Driver back in the news, Rian Johnson has shared his opinion on The Hunt for Ben Solo.

What did Rian Johnson say about the possible Ben Solo movie?

Ever since news broke about The Hunt for Ben Solo, Star Wars fans have been clamoring for more information about the shelved project. The movie has garnered many supporters, including Johnson, who directed Driver in The Last Jedi.

In an interview with Collider, Johnson made a passionate plea for Driver’s Star Wars movie.

“Take my money! I only know what I read about it online,” Johnson said. “I didn’t know anything about it, but who knows how things are developed these days? But man, I will watch Driver in anything, but I would love to see him play that character again.”

Last month, Driver revealed that he and Steven Soderbergh were developing The Hunt for Ben Solo, a new Star Wars movie that would follow the titular character after the events in The Rise of Skywalker.

Driver and Soderbergh pitched the idea up the chain of command at Disney until it eventually reached Bob Iger and Alan Bergman. However, that’s as far as the project got. The Disney executives did not understand the concept of a Ben Solo movie because the character died in The Rise of Skywalker, so they killed the idea.

Nevertheless, The Hunt for Ben Solo has inspired an entire campaign to resurrect the project. Fans held rallies in New York City and Los Angeles to support Driver’s movie. Letters and petitions have been sent to Disney to greenlight the movie. A plane even flew over Disney’s Burbank lot with the message, “Save The Hunt for Ben Solo.”

As of November 14, Disney has no plans to revisit The Hunt for Ben Solo.
