Labyrinth Theatrical Rerelease Date Set for David Bowie Movie

The Jim Henson Company and Fathom Entertainment have announced the Labyrinth rerelease date for the upcoming special screening of 1986’s classic fantasy adventure movie starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly. Since its debut, it has maintained its Certified Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes with a Tomatometer rating of 77% based on 52 reviews.

“Frustrated with babysitting on yet another weekend night, Sarah (Connelly), a teenager with an active imagination, summons the Goblins to take her baby stepbrother away. When little Toby actually disappears, Sarah must follow him into a fantastical world to rescue him from the Goblin King (Bowie). Guarding his castle is the labyrinth itself, a twisted maze of deception, populated with outrageous characters and unknown dangers. To get through it in time to save Toby, Sarah befriends the Goblins, in hopes that their loyalty isn’t just another illusion in a place where nothing is as it seems,” reads the synopsis.

When is Labyrinth’s theatrical rerelease date?

In honor of its 40th anniversary, the remastered version of Labyrinth will return to theaters for four days from January 8, 2026 through January 11, 2026. In addition, the limited screenings will also include a special featurette celebrating the movie’s fans. Tickets are now available for purchase on the Fathom Entertainment website.

Labyrinth was directed by Henson, with George Lucas serving as executive producer. It was scored by Trevor Jones, with several songs of original music contributed to the film and performed by Bowie. The movie’s conceptual design was created by Brian Froud. The puppet creatures featured were performed by David Goelz, Steve Whitmire, Karen Prell, Ron Mueck, Kevin Clash, Shari Weiser, Anthony Asbury, Brian Henson, and Frank Oz.

“The magical combination of Jim Henson, George Lucas, David Bowie, Jennifer Connelly, and hundreds of extraordinary creatures and puppets from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop made Labyrinth a landmark fantasy classic, one that is beloved by Fathom Entertainment audiences over the years,” Fathom Entertainment executive Ray Nutt said in a statement. “We are honored to bring this 1986 epic back to theatres from Sony Pictures for its 40th anniversary in this special presentation and provide a brilliant night at the movies for audiences of all ages.”
