Batman Begins’ Michael Caine Signs Deal To Have His Voice Recreated With AI

Michael Caine has joined a growing list of major performers entering the generative audio space as he finalizes a new agreement for AI voice recreation. The veteran actor signed a deal with ElevenLabs, allowing the company to recreate and license his voice through its newly launched Iconic Voice Marketplace.

Michael Caine has partnered with generative AI company ElevenLabs to license and clone his voice through the company’s new Iconic Voice Marketplace. The initiative allows brands and creators to request access to celebrity and historical voices for editorial and commercial projects. ElevenLabs confirmed that Caine voiced an advert for the launch and that his voice will be available on the ElevenReader app to narrate books, articles and PDFs.

ElevenLabs described the marketplace as a performer-first platform. It connects companies with talent and estates through agreements reached off-platform. After that, the cloning technology delivers the licensed voice.

The company recently settled a lawsuit from actors Karissa Vacker and Mark Boyett, who accused ElevenLabs of misappropriating their voices. The service features living performers such as Liza Minnelli and Art Garfunkel. It also includes deceased figures such as John Wayne, Laurence Olivier, Judy Garland, Maya Angelou and Mark Twain.

Caine said, “For years, I’ve lent my voice to stories that moved people, tales of courage, of wit, of the human spirit. Now, I’m helping others find theirs. With ElevenLabs, we can preserve and share voices, not just mine, but anyone’s.” He added, “ElevenLabs is at the very forefront of technology, using innovation not to replace humanity, but to celebrate it.”

ElevenLabs also announced that Matthew McConaughey has invested in the company. McConaughey confirmed that the platform will create a Spanish language edition of his newsletter. He said, “Lyrics of Livin’ is expanding with a Spanish language edition, allowing us to reach and connect with even more people.”

ElevenLabs was founded in 2022 by Piotr Dąbkowski and Mati Staniszewski. The Iconic Voice Marketplace features more than 25 voices. These include Amelia Earhart, Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Alan Turing, J. Robert Oppenheimer, Rocky Marciano, Richard Feynman, Lana Turner and Montgomery Clift.
