Kate Winslet & Helen Mirren Lead Netflix Movie Goodbye June Trailer

Netflix has shared the official trailer for Goodbye June, the upcoming family drama led by Academy Award winners Kate Winslet and Helen Mirren. This also marks Winslet’s feature directorial debut. The movie is scheduled to arrive in select US and UK theaters on December 12, followed by its streaming debut on December 24.

“The film takes place just before Christmas, when an unexpected turn in their mother’s health thrusts four adult siblings and their exasperating father into chaos as they navigate messy family dynamics in the face of potential loss. But their quick-witted mother, June, orchestrates her decline on her own terms — with biting humour, blunt honesty, and a lot of love,” reads the official synopsis.

What happens in the Goodbye June trailer?

The video introduces the movie’s all-star cast, featuring Mirren as a mother of four adult children, whose health suddenly takes a turn for the worse just before Christmas. Her children must deal with the difficult reality of possibly losing their beloved mother while trying their best to get along with each other. The trailer also highlights each sibling’s close bond with their mother, teasing the things they’re willing to do to make her happy.

Winslet directed Goodbye June from a screenplay written by her son Joe Anders. The latter previously starred in the 2019 war drama 1917 and 2023’s music rom-com movie Bonus Track. The ensemble cast also includes Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, Timothy Spall, Stephen Merchant, Fisayo Akinade, Jeremy Swift, and Raza Jaffrey. The movie is produced by Winslet and Kate Solomon.
