SpongeBob Goes on a Big Adventure in Search for SquarePants Trailer

Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures have released The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants trailer, previewing the upcoming adventure comedy film based on the iconic cartoon franchise. The upcoming SpongeBob movie is set to release on December 19, 2025, in theaters.

“In the film, SpongeBob SquarePants must embark on a journey to the ocean’s depths to face the Flying Dutchman’s ghost, where he’ll be encountering challenges and uncovering marine mysteries,” reads the film’s official synopsis.

The trailer for the new movie sees SpongeBob and Patrick embarking on one of their biggest adventures yet. The pair must travel to the Underworld, and in order to bring them back, his friends must travel there as well to bring him and Patrick home.

The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants is directed by Derek Drymon from a screenplay written by Pam Brady and Matt Lieberman, based on a story by Marc Ceccarelli & Kaz, and Pam Brady. The voice cast includes Tom Kenny as SpongeBob, Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick, Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy, Clancy Brown as Mr. Krabs, Rodger Bumpass as Squidward, Mr. Lawrence as Plankton, and Mark Hamill as The Flying Dutchman, with Regina Hall, Sherry Cola, Arturo Castro, George Lopez, and Ice Spice in undisclosed roles.

This serves as the latest installment in the SpongeBob film franchise, based on the iconic Nickelodeon show. Prior to this, Netflix previously released the spin-off Plankton: The Movie in March, which centered around the titular villain and his robot wife Karen.
