Zack Snyder shares Henry Cavill’s Superman photo for Veterans Day
Zack Snyder marked Veterans Day by posting a picture of Henry Cavill as Superman from Man of Steel on Instagram. The image, showing Kal-El standing in front of the U.S. flag during the final battle, featured Snyder’s caption: “To those who stand for truth, justice, and freedom — grateful today and every day. Thank you. #VeteransDay.” The post received over 60,000 likes within hours and numerous fan comments praising Cavill’s portrayal and the film’s legacy.
Snyder has frequently shared images from his past DC films, including photos of Ben Affleck’s Batman and Jared Leto’s Joker, keeping his former cinematic universe alive online. His latest post follows a series of Man of Steel throwbacks that continue to highlight Cavill’s Superman as a symbol of strength and morality.
During production on Man of Steel, Snyder told Collider that he viewed Superman’s “Americanism” as essential to the character, saying, “I think that I like the fact that Superman’s American, you know? I think that that’s cool… Superman could not be of any other nationality…because he’s so naïve.”
Snyder also spoke about the challenges of designing the Superman suit, noting, “I have seen every possible version of that suit… versions with underwear, versions without… with a cape, without a cape.” He explained that the final design needed to instantly signal “it’s gotta be Superman.”
Man of Steel and Superman remain available to stream on HBO Max. Notably, Snyder’s post comes amid ongoing discussion of the DCEU’s legacy and renewed fan attention to Cavill’s era as the Last Son of Krypton.
