Nintendo is gearing up for a major reveal tied to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this week. The company has teased a special presentation that will give fans their first real glimpse at the highly anticipated sequel from Nintendo and Illumination.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer gets release date for this week

Nintendo has confirmed that the first trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will debut during a special Nintendo Direct on Wednesday, November 12, at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET. The announcement was shared through the Nintendo Today! app and on the company’s official X (formerly Twitter) account. The upcoming Direct will not include any gaming news and will focus solely on the premiere of the animated film’s trailer.

Nintendo’s post on X also included a two-panel promotional poster featuring the film’s title and Nintendo and Illumination logos against a starry backdrop. The image depicts several Toad characters sailing on small boats under a night sky with spaceships hovering above.

The Nintendo Direct will mark the first substantial look at the 2026 sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Nintendo and Illumination revealed the film’s title during a previous Direct in September 2025. Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic return as directors, with Matthew Fogel once again handling the screenplay.

The voice cast includes Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, and Charlie Day as Luigi. Jack Black returns as Bowser, alongside Keegan-Michael Key as Toad and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Universal Pictures will distribute The Super Mario Galaxy Movie in theaters on April 3, 2026, in the United States and April 24 in Japan. Illumination Studios Paris leads the animation work, continuing its partnership with Nintendo following the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
