Oscar Isaac Doesn’t Want to Work With Disney for a Good Reason

Oscar Isaac could return to Marvel and Star Wars one day. However, a return isn’t likely right now because of recent events involving Disney.

What did Oscar Isaac say about working with Disney?

This past September, Disney suspended Jimmy Kimmel for comments he made on Jimmy Kimmel Live! about the assassination of Charlie Kirk. This decision did not sit well with Isaac.

During an interview with GQ, Isaac spoke about a potential return to Star Wars. The interview took place two days after Kimmel’s suspension, so Isaac was not pleased with Disney. Isaac would consider a return, but he specified what needs to happen first.

“Yeah. I mean, I’d be open to it, although right now I’m not so open to working with Disney,” Isaac explained. “But if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great.”

Isaac added, “But if that happens, then yeah, I’d be open to having a conversation about a galaxy far away. Or any number of other things.”

Isaac has had two major roles in two of Disney’s biggest franchises. First, Isaac played fighter pilot Poe Dameron in three Star Wars movies: The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker. In that same GQ interview, Isaac addressed comments he made on a Deadline panel in 2020 that he would return as Poe if he “needed another house.”

“Yeah. That was a real likable quote. Jesus Christ,” Isaac added. “Y’know, people ask you things, you say stuff, you don’t really think about it that much. I said a slightly dickish thing.”

Besides Star Wars, Isaac’s other notable role in Disney came as Steven Grant in the Disney+ series Moon Knight. Isaac has previously expressed interest in returning as Moon Knight, but the show has not been renewed for a second season.
