Alien: Romulus Sequel Gets Discouraging Part 2 Update

A recent update about the highly anticipated Alien: Romulus 2 has left fans disappointed. Visual effects artist Alec Gillis revealed that he is not aware of the official progress on the sequel. His comments came around two months after director Fede Álvarez stepped away from directing the film.

Special effects artist Alec Gillis has clarified that there is currently no official update on a sequel to Alien: Romulus. Despite reports suggesting a sequel is in early development, Gillis revealed he has not yet been approached to participate in any pre-production work.

Speaking with Collider on the red carpet of Predator: Badlands, Gillis addressed whether he was already preparing designs for the anticipated sequel. He said, “I have not, personally. Maybe there are people who are, but they’re not talking to me.”

The designer, known for his contributions to both the Alien and Predator franchises, remains hopeful that he will once again be involved. He said, “But they will at some point. I hope so.” Most recently, he worked on Predator: Killer of Killers and Prey.

As for the sequel, Alien: Romulus director Fede Álvarez has confirmed that the script for the follow-up has been completed, co-written with Rodo Sayagues. However, Álvarez also announced that he will not return to direct the next installment. Instead, he and franchise creator Ridley Scott will serve as producers.

In a conversation with TooFab in September, the filmmaker said, “I’m gonna pass the torch on this one as director. I’m going to produce it, with Ridley Scott, we’re gonna produce it together, and we’re right now trying to find a new filmmaker to come in.”

As of now, no official production schedule or release timeline has been announced. Fans will have to wait for further updates about Alien: Romulus 2.
