Jennifer Lawrence & Leonardo DiCaprio’s Martin Scorsese Movie Gets Big Update
Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio are set to star in Martin Scorsese’s next movie, What Happens at Night. The movie recently received a big update from one of its stars.
When is the big update involving the Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio movie?
While speaking with Indiewire, Lawrence teased the start date for What Happens at Night.
“Hopefully, a January/February situation,” Lawrence said. “But one never knows with these things. I’ll believe it when I’m there. We’re going to dig in.”
What Happens at Night is based on an adaptation of the ghost story novel by Peter Cameron. Scorsese will direct from a screenplay by Patrick Marber. Apple Original Films was in negotiations to finance and produce with Studiocanal.
“The dream-like story follows a married American couple who travel to a small, snowy European town to adopt a baby,” the official synopsis reads. “They check into a cavernous, largely deserted hotel where they encounter an enigmatic cast of characters including a flamboyant chanteuse, a depraved businessman and a charismatic faith healer. Nothing is quite as it seems in this strange, frozen world. As the couple struggle to claim their baby, the less they seem to know about themselves and the life they’ve built together.”
It’s a reunion for Lawrence and DiCaprio, who previously starred together in 2021’s Don’t Look Up. For DiCaprio and Scorsese, What Happens at Night will be their seventh collaboration and first since 2023’s Killers of the Flower Moon.
While promoting One Battle After Another, DiCaprio said that he recently watched Vertigo to prepare for What Happens at Night.
“Any time you get to see and talk movies with him [Scorsese], it’s a religious experience,” DiCaprio told the Big Picture podcast. “But when he talks about a movie that he’s still trying to figure out, he’s like, you know, ‘Each decade that movie means something different to me. Is she a ghost, or is she not a ghost? Is she there? Is he a ghost?’ So yeah, there’s something we’re working on that’s a reference to that.”
