Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley to Star in MMA Movie Based on Real Fighter

After playing legendary swimmer Gertrude Ederle in 2024’s Young Woman and the Sea, Star Wars alum Daisy Ridley is now set to enter the world of MMA in the upcoming sports drama movie titled Killa Bee. Ridley has officially signed on to portray the leading role of real-life nurse-turned-MMA fighter Bryony Tyrell.

“Bryony’s story is one of extraordinary courage and resilience. I was deeply moved by her emotional and empowering journey. I can’t wait to bring her spirit to the screen,” Ridley said in a statement.

Bryony Tyrell has been involved in the project with Kenton Oxley since the beginning and is supportive of her inspirational story being brought to the screen,” the producers shared. “She is actively consulting on the project. The scripting process has been shaped in close dialogue with Bryony’s family, ensuring emotional truth and creative integrity at every turn. Director Kenton, a longtime friend of Bryony’s since their school days, brings a deeply personal lens to the story—one rooted in trust, history, and fierce creative loyalty.”

Who else is involved in Daisy Ridley’s MMA movie?

According to Deadline, Kenton Oxley (Farah) will direct the Killa Bee movie from a screenplay written by Ruth Sewell. Oxley has been Tyrell’s friend since their school days in the UK. Production is expected to begin during the second quarter of 2026. It will be produced by Lucinda Thakrar and Mark Vennis, with Michael Foster serving as an executive producer. The movie hails from Knockout Productions, Picture Perfect, and Moviehouse Entertainment.

“The film will tell the story of Bryony Tyrell, a mother of two with a master’s degree in nursing and a degree in molecular biology who worked on the ICU by day, navigating the challenges of the NHS, and at night transformed into one of Britain’s leading cage fighting prospects,” reads the initial synopsis.

Before Killa Bee, Ridley will first star opposite Alden Ehrenreich in the upcoming romantic comedy The Last Resort, which takes place in the Philippines. She is also expected to reprise her iconic Star Wars role in an untitled Rey Skywalker movie, which will take place several years after the events of 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.
