Netflix’s Biggest Movie Gets Sequel Update From Actor
Ever since KPop Demon Hunters became a massive hit on Netflix, fans have been eager to see a sequel, and now singer and voice actor Rei Ami has spoken about the possibility. During a recent public event, the Seoul-born artist shared her thoughts about a potential sequel to the animated musical, stating that she’d be willing to reprise her role if the call comes.
Rei Ami says she’s ‘waiting for the call’ for KPop Demon Hunters 2
Speaking to E! News at an October 31 red carpet event outside New York’s Hard Rock Hotel, Rei Ami provided an encouraging update on the KPop Demon Hunters sequel. Although she didn’t confirm any official details about the follow-up film, Ami did state her interest in reprising the role of Zoey.
“I’m waiting for the call, just like you! You’re gonna find out when I do, so we’ll chat then,” she stated.
While Rei Ami did not provide any update on the development of the sequel, she highlighted the success of the original film. “This is a cultural phenomenon,” the 30-year-old artist said of KPop Demon Hunters before adding, “I’m so honored and in awe and just truly humbled by the power of music and good art and how it can really, truly—it sounds so cliché—change the world. That’s exactly what this film and this soundtrack did, and it brought so much hope and light into such a dim, grim world, and I feel really privileged to be a part of it.”
Speculation around KPop Demon Hunters 2 has been swirling ever since the first movie became the most-watched original animated film on Netflix. In an earlier interview, directors of the first film, Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, spoke about the idea of going the live-action route for the second film, before agreeing that the task would be “so much more challenging.”
Despite the overwhelming success of KPop Demon Hunters, Netflix has yet to announce any official plans for a sequel.
