Essential Christmas Movies Like Elf, Polar Express, & More Come to HBO Max
Some essential Christmas movies are headed to HBO Max.
With the Halloween season now coming to an end, HBO Max is gearing up for another big holiday: Christmas. The streaming platform has announced that a handful of Christmas movies will be available to watch tomorrow — November 1, 2025 — to help everyone get into the Yuletide spirit.
What Christmas movies are coming to HBO Max?
Christmas movies that will be available to stream on HBO Max tomorrow include 1938’s A Christmas Carol, 1983’s A Christmas Story, 1989’s National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, 2003’s Elf, 2004’s The Polar Express, and 2008’s Four Christmases.
Additionally, while not directly related to the holiday, some winter or snow-themed movies such as 2006’s Happy Feet, 2012’s Ice Age: Continental Drift, and 2016’s Norm of the North will also be available to stream.
The 1938 version of A Christmas Carol, which is based on Charles Dickens’ novella, was directed by Edwin L. Marin and stars Reginald Owen as Ebenezer Scrooge, Gene Lockhart as Bob Cratchit, Leo G. Carroll as Marley’s Ghost, Ann Rutherford as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Lionel Braham as the Ghost of Christmas Present, D’Arcy Corrigan as the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, and Terry Kilburn as Tiny Tim.
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Elf, and The Polar Express hardly need any explanation, as all three of them have become staples of many households in the United States when it comes to movies that are regularly watched around Christmastime. It is worth noting, though, that the Christmas Story sequel, titled A Christmas Story Christmas, is already available to stream on HBO Max.
Four Christmases, meanwhile, is a rom-com starring Vince Vaughn as Brad McVie, Reese Witherspoon as Kate Kinkaid, Robert Duvall as Howard McVie, Jon Favreau as Denver McVie, and Mary Steenburgen as Marilyn Kinkaid. It was directed by Seth Gordon.
