Don’t Expect Mark Hamill to Cameo in Star Wars: Starfighter

Mark Hamill has expressed his support for the next chapter of the Star Wars saga, Star Wars: Starfighter, led by Ryan Gosling. Hamill, who has played Luke Skywalker for over four decades, also confirmed that his own journey with the franchise has come to an end.

Mark Hamill has confirmed that his time with Star Wars has come to an end. Speaking at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival, the actor said that the upcoming film Star Wars: Starfighter, starring Ryan Gosling, does not require any advice or input from him.

When asked if he had any advice for Gosling, Hamill said he has long been a fan of the actor. He stated, “I’ve been a fan of his and I became a super fan when he played Beavis on Saturday Night Live.” Hamill emphasized that he feels satisfied with his contribution to the series. He said, “No, none of those people need advice from me. They’re doing so well. I had my time. I’m going to ask for advice from them.” (via PEOPLE)

In a previous interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Hamill addressed the possibility of reprising his role as Luke Skywalker once again. He said, “I just don’t see any reason to. Let me put it that way: I mean, they have so many stories to tell, they don’t need Luke anymore. I had my time, and that’s good. But that’s enough.”

Hamill is best known for portraying Luke Skywalker across multiple decades of the Star Wars saga. The character last appeared in the role in The Book of Boba Fett (2022) following his return in The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker.

Director Shawn Levy, who is helming Star Wars: Starfighter, revealed earlier this year that the film will feature Gosling in the lead role. The director emphasized that the film is neither a prequel nor a sequel. He added, “It takes place in a new period of time after the Battle of Exegoll, after Episode 9.” It is scheduled for release on May 28, 2027.
