Alexandra Daddario on Playing Wonder Woman in James Gunn’s DCU
Alexandra Daddario recently addressed growing fan speculation about her joining James Gunn’s DC Universe. In an interview, the actress responded to audience discussions and fan art imagining her as Wonder Woman or Catwoman. The conversation reignited interest in the DCU’s upcoming projects under Gunn’s “Gods and Monsters” chapter.

Alexandra Daddario recently addressed speculation about her potential involvement in James Gunn’s DC Universe during an interview with ScreenRant. While promoting her new film, I Wish You All The Best, Alexandra Daddario addressed fan art that depicts her as Wonder Woman or Catwoman, two roles audiences have imagined her playing in the new DCU. “I have to be honest, I haven’t seen any of that [fan art],” she said.
She added, “I’m flattered to hear that it’s happening, but I haven’t seen it,” noting she wasn’t aware of the fan casting. When the interviewer asked if she would join Gunn’s DC Universe, Daddario replied, “Of course, working with James Gunn would be amazing in any capacity, but I wasn’t aware that that was going on.”
Both Wonder Woman and Catwoman will appear in upcoming DCU projects. Gunn revealed on Threads on September 29, 2025, that Catwoman will appear in the franchise, though her specific project remains unannounced. Meanwhile, the Wonder Woman feature film entered early development in June 2025, with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow writer Ana Nogueira set to pen the script.
Additionally, a prequel series titled Paradise Lost remains in slow development. Gunn told Entertainment Weekly that it is “moving,” but the project does not yet have a finalized creative team.
While fans continue to share casting theories, DC Studios has not announced any actors for its Wonder Woman reboot. If the script progresses as planned, industry speculation suggests a possible release window around 2028.
