Avengers Updates on X (formerly Twitter) shared a new high-definition promotional image revealing Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom armor from Avengers: Doomsday.
The photo shows Downey in a green hooded cloak and a metallic suit engraved with intricate designs. The images confirm earlier reports of Marvel adding symbolic details from Thor and Captain Marvel. Downey, who portrayed Iron Man for over a decade, now plays Victor Von Doom, the main antagonist in the 2026 Russo Brothers-directed film.
The new image offers the clearest look yet at Doom’s armor. Two cape pins resemble Mjölnir, Thor’s hammer, and the Hala star from Captain Marvel’s suit. Both insignias sit on Doom’s shoulders, suggesting they have symbolic or narrative importance in the Multiverse storyline. Marvel showcased a version of this suit at the 2026 Disney Merchandise Expo in China, but the new photos reveal finer engravings and previously unseen sigils.
The armor also seemingly includes markings linked to Shang-Chi’s Ten Rings and Kamala Khan’s bangles. These details connect Doom’s design to other major artifacts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The suit’s differences from the Fantastic Four: First Steps post-credits appearance suggest this may be Doom’s ultimate form.
Joe Russo confirmed that he and Anthony Russo returned to direct Avengers: Doomsday after writer Stephen McFeely pitched a compelling story. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Tom Hiddleston, and Robert Downey Jr. Supporting cast members include Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, and Pedro Pascal.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026, followed by Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
