DreamWorks Movie Forgotten Island Gets Star-Studded Cast, Plot Info

DreamWorks Animation has finally announced the star-studded cast and logline for its newest fantasy adventure movie, titled Forgotten Island, which is expected to center around a magical island inspired by Philippine mythology. It is still currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on September 25, 2026.

“What if your lifelong best friend just forgot all about you? Forgot all the love, the joy, the pain, all of the memories and experiences you once shared,” reads the logline. “The story revolves around two best friends who find themselves stranded in the fantastical world of Nakali and find that their only way off the mystical, forgotten island might come at the expense of a lifetime of memories.”

Who is part of DreamWorks Animation’s Forgotten Island cast?

DreamWorks Animation has enlisted well-known Filipino-American stars to bring the story to life, including Manny Jacinto (Star Wars: The Acolyte, Freakier Friday), Academy Award winner H.E.R. (The Color Purple), and Liza Soberano (Lisa Frankenstein). Broadway legend and acclaimed Filipino actress Lea Salonga (Mulan, KPop Demon Hunters) has also joined the cast, along with Dave Franco (The Lego Ninjago Movie) and Jenny Slate (Zootopia, The Secret Life of Pets). Further details about their respective characters are still under wraps.

Forgotten Island will be written and directed by Joel Crawford (Trolls Holiday) and Januel Mercado, who previously worked together on Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and The Croods: A New Age. The movie will be produced by Mark Swift, with composer Nathan Matthew David providing the score.
