Apple Original Films has acquired rights to develop Last Flight Out, a feature adaptation of Marc Guggenheim’s Dark Horse graphic novel, illustrated by Eduardo Ferigato. Last Flight Out follows the story of a father and daughter trying to reconnect as humanity faces the end of the world.

The project was reportedly secured in a seven-figure deal and will be developed in partnership with Chernin Entertainment. Sam Hargrave is in talks to direct the film and is expected to produce alongside Peter Chernin and David Ready for Chernin Entertainment, and Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg for Dark Horse Entertainment. Guggenheim will also write the screenplay for the film and is attached as a producer (via Deadline) .

Hargrave, known for his action projects such as Netflix’s Extraction franchise and Apple TV+’s The Last Frontier, has well-established himself in the industry. Last Flight Out will reunite Hargrave with Apple after their collaboration on the upcoming John Cena-led movie, Matchbox. He is represented by WME.

Guggenheim, best known as one of the creators behind the Arrowverse, continues to expand his portfolio across film and television. He has recently sold three pilots within six months and is the writer and executive producer on Netflix’s upcoming film An Innocent Girl.

Chernin Entertainment, which recently signed a first-look feature deal with Apple, has developed several projects for the streamer. These include Chief of War and See. Last Flight Out now joins the slate of its high-profile projects.
