Marvel Fans Are Sure Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther Replacement Is Found

Another major development may be underway for the future of Wakanda. While Marvel Studios has not made any official casting announcements, Damson Idris’ appearance alongside Black Panther star Angela Bassett at Vogue World: Hollywood has fueled renewed speculation about his potential role as T’Challa.

Marvel fans double down on Damson Idris as the new Black Panther

Images circulating online show Idris in a black suit alongside Bassett as Queen Ramonda, dressed in a purple gown and headdress adorned with gold jewelry and intricate detailing. The two appeared on a brightly lit runway surrounded by spotlights, cheering crowds, photographers, and performers in vibrant red and purple attire.

Posts across social media described the appearance as a possible “soft launch” of Damson Idris as the next T’Challa.

Another viral caption stating “yeah that’s T’challa” has gained more than 1.5 million views. Additional photos showed Bassett and Idris posing with others in suits and traditional outfits under stage lights, fueling fan theories of an intentional Marvel Studios tease.

The discussion stems from ongoing rumors that Marvel may recast or reimagine the character following Chadwick Boseman’s passing. Earlier reports linked Idris to talks with Marvel about the role, though the actor had previously joked online that he “turned down 007, a co-lead film with Daniel Day-Lewis and an Eddie Murphy biopic.”

In a television interview cited by Entertainment Weekly, the host asked Idris if he had “any conversations” about becoming the next Black Panther. Idris responded with “Yes-no!” but also confirmed he would take the role if given the opportunity.

Reports suggest that Marvel’s next iteration may focus on Toussaint, aka Prince T’Challa, introduced at the end of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Director Ryan Coogler told The New York Times he hopes “people are still making movies about Wakanda long after we’re gone.”
