Predator: Badlands’ first reactions are in
Amon Warmann of Empire wrote, “Predator: Badlands is friggin’ awesome. Inventive action, organic comedy, and a story I was fully invested in. Dan Trachtenberg continues to push all the right buttons with this franchise.”
Aaron Percival of AVPGalaxy described it as “absolutely a Dark Horse adaptation,” adding that it “leaned heavily into the adventure/fantasy angle” and that “P1/P2 purists will not be on board with this though.”
Eammon Parks Jacobs from Dexerto called it “a cosmic buddy road movie” that “smartly maneuvers the franchise to a grander scale than just another survival horror.”
Christopher Rates It of Nexus Point News stated that Trachtenberg “takes major swings… expanding on Yautja mythology while delivering outstanding fight choreography and excellent performances.”
Chris Gallardo of PopTernative said, “It’s a found family action-adventure wrapped in classic franchise brutality. Trachtenberg confidently continues to make the Predator world captivating as Fanning charms (and scares!).”
Josh Barton from Film Hounds Magazine noted, “It’s the most action-packed Predator film yet… an interesting angle that sometimes feels like The Mandalorian.”
Phil Roberts of The Future of the Force added that it is “an epic spectacle… more sci-fi epic than traditional Predator,” though “legacy fans may be left disappointed.”
Set in the future on a remote planet, the film follows a young Predator outcast played by Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi. He joins forces with Thia, played by Elle Fanning, on a perilous quest to find the ultimate adversary.
Predator: Badlands opens exclusively in cinemas on November 7.
