Sydney Sweeney Addresses James Bond Casting Rumors

Sydney Sweeney is opening up about some of the recent James Bond casting rumors that have been floating around online.

Earlier this year, Amazon MGM Studios gained creative control over the James Bond franchise after purchasing the rights to do so from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. It has since been announced that Denis Villeneuve will direct the next 007 movie after finishing Dune: Part Three.

What did Sydney Sweeney say about James Bond?

Per Variety, there have been some rumors that Sweeney may be in line to play a Bond girl in the next 007 movie, which is “something Amazon founder Jeff Bezos reportedly wants very much to happen.” The article further points out, “She did attend his wedding to Lauren Sánchez in June, and the trio are tangentially in business together on Sweeney’s new lingerie line.”

When asked if there was any truth to these rumors, Sweeney said, “I can’t. [Seven-second pause.] I don’t know. [Ten-second pause.] To be honest, I don’t know all the Bond rumors, but I’ve always been a huge fan of the franchise, and I’m excited and curious to see what they do with it.”

When pressed about whether she would be interested in the franchise, the Euphoria star commented, “Depends on the script. I think I’d have more fun as James Bond.”

At this time, there have been no official casting announcements regarding the next James Bond movie, as it is still in the pre-production phase, and any decisions that have been made about the project are being kept under wraps. It is known that Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight is writing the script for the film.

It was also just recently reported that Amazon paid Broccoli and Wilson’s production company Eon Productions $20 million in order to gain creative control of Bond.
