Manny Jacinto’s Star Wars Character Gets Surprising Revelation
Star Wars: The Acolyte showrunner Leslye Headland has opened up about her original plans for the future of Manny Jacinto‘s character if the Disney+ show hadn’t been canceled after one season.
Jacinto played Qimir/The Stranger, a Sith Lord who initially disguised himself as a former arms smuggler. Despite being revealed as the show’s main antagonist, he eventually became an instant favorite among fans who loved the character’s mysterious background and fighting skills.
What is the latest development of Manny Jacinto’s Star Wars character?
Per SFFGazelle, in Lucasfilm’s new book The Art of The Acolyte, Headland shared what would have happened to Jacinto’s The Stranger if the show had been able to continue his story. She confirmed that The Stranger would have become the first member of the Knights of Ren, a dark side cult of Force-users who first appeared during the Star Wars sequel trilogy.
“It was in the design of the character, as well as knowing that we were going to introduce Darth Plagueis, who has to end up with Palpatine as his apprentice,” Headland revealed. “Following the Rule of Two — a precept that limited the Sith to just two at any given time, a master and an apprentice — one way to keep it going is if the Stranger is the first Knight of Ren, part of a Sith-adjacent cult that we know eventually survives.”
Star Wars: The Acolyte also starred Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Dafne Keen, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Carrie-Anne Moss, Manny Jacinto, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Charlie Barnett. Despite receiving a Certified Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, the show was a victim of review-bombing from franchise fans who didn’t believe in the show’s vision. It was canceled in August 2024, with Disney executive Alan Bergman citing the show’s high production costs as the main reason for their decision to cancel.
