Werwulf Set Photos Give First Look at New Robert Eggers Movie After Nosferatu
Robert Eggers‘ upcoming period horror drama Werwulf has received new behind-the-scenes photos from its UK set. The movie is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 25, 2026.
What do the Werwulf set photos show?
Shared on Reddit, the Werwulf photos provided a behind-the-scenes look at the crew building the medieval village set for Eggers’ newest period drama. When the project was first announced, it was revealed that the story will reportedly be set in 13th-century England, just like the filmmaker’s previous movies. Production is currently underway in the UK.
The movie will be directed by Eggers, who co-wrote the screenplay with Sjón. After working together in 2024’s Nosferatu, Aaron Taylor-Johnson will once again lead Eggers’ next horror movie. He will reportedly be joined by Eggers’ frequent collaborators Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, and Ralph Ineson. Further details about its plot and characters are still under wraps. It will be produced by Tim Bevan, Garett Bird, Eggers, Eric Fellner, and Sjón. Executive producers are Chris Columbus and Eleanor Columbus, with Jarin Blaschke serving as its cinematographer.
According to a Q&A Eggers took part in at the Lincoln Center, the director described his upcoming Werwulf movie as the “darkest thing” he’s ever written. The filmmaker is best known for his directorial works on movies like 2015’s The Witch, 2019’s The Lighthouse, 2022’s The Northman, and 2024’s Nosferatu, which have all received Certified Fresh scores on Rotten Tomatoes. Besides Werwulf, Eggers is also currently attached to helm a Labyrinth sequel.
